WHY ARE WE HIRING?

We are very fortunate in that we are currently facing a very healthy new client pipeline due to word-of-mouth referrals from our existing clients and referral partners.  We are looking to control this growth by strategically hiring the right professionals to join our team. Our short-term goal is to double in size within the next two to three years. Our long-term plan (for now) is to maintain the feel of a smaller boutique-style CPA firm by employing the right team of high caliber professionals to serve the perfect client base, which we will eventually limit with strict client acceptance standards. We, therefore, are looking to bring on professionals that enjoy leading by example, learning new tasks, and teaching others in return. In short, building a strong company culture that focuses on client and employee satisfaction has become our number one priority.

Currently, our clients’ payroll needs are being fulfilled by internal accountants within our accounting services department.  Moreover, our payroll-related work has grown to a point where we would benefit by consolidating these efforts across our staff to one professional.  The Payroll Specialist role we are looking to fill will take ownership in all payroll-related work provided to our clients.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role reports directly to the Manager of Accounting Services

  • Responsible for providing effective and timely communication with clients and internal management

  • Providing quality, technical payroll advisory services and/or in-depth technical guidance (written and verbal communication) for clients, and researching any issues to provide such guidance when warranted

  • Responsible for managing a variety of different payroll processing deadlines (weekly and bi-weekly), including associated federal and state tax returns & payments, while utilizing project management software

  • Complete monthly/quarterly/annual payroll filings & returns, i.e. DR 1094/1093 forms, Form 941/940, CO UITR-1, etc.

  • Responding to, and following up on, federal & state payroll notices on behalf of clients

  • Reconcile payroll summaries to our clients’ financials

  • Processing 401(k) and other various contributions each payroll

  • Complete workers’ compensation audit inquiries

  • Reporting key department metrics and milestones to management

  • Process all benefit-related deductions

  • Process special compensation incentives such as tip allocations, bonuses, commissions, etc.

  • Answering payroll-related questions from clients and government agencies

  • Assist in monthly/quarterly/annual bookkeeping deadlines such as being an integral part of the month-end close process & procedures

  • Adhering to internal (Company) and regulatory (Federal and Statutory) record retention requirements, client acceptance standards, and professional/ethical code of conduct standards

  • Take ownership and be responsible for other accounting and payroll-relates tasks, as needed

 

MUSTS:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience required

  • Minimum of 1 years of QuickBooks experience required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Extremely detailed oriented and strong organizational skills

  • Is great with maintaining client relationships

  • Ability to take the lead on tasks, work independently, efficiently, and accurately with minimal supervision

  • Excellent time management skills (deadline focused)

  • Demonstrate confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive matters and information

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and adaptable to change

  • Comfortable listening and communicating (written and verbal) with people at all levels of the organization, and with a variety of personalities

  • Can process and transpose information very quickly and accurately (i.e. possesses an above average typing speed on keyboard & 10 key)

  • Positive attitude, dependable, and reliable

 

PLUSES (NOT REQUIRED):

  • FPC, CPP, and/or EA certification

  • Working knowledge of how to perform other (small business) accounting-related tasks, such as financial statement preparation & analysis, budgeting & forecasting, etc.

  • Possesses an interest in business development and growing a book of business

 

COMPENSATION:

  • This position is a full-time salaried position with benefits and will be tailored to be extremely competitive based on the Candidate’s experience, credentials, and skillset
